Alberta is one of the prairie provinces and is the fourth largest province in Canada, covering approximately the same land area as the state of Texas.

It has an estimated population of 3.7 million with most of the people living in either the city of Edmonton or Calgary. Alberta has enjoyed a relatively high rate of growth in recent years, mainly because of its burgeoning economy. Alberta is the largest producer of conventional crude oil, synthetic crude, natural gas and gas products in the country.

Agriculture also plays a role in the province's economy by being a top producer of wheat, oats, canola and barley. Dairy farms and cattle ranchers are numerous in the flat prairie areas and southern foothills. With its diverse landscape and topography including mountains, foothills, plains, and boreal forest, Alberta offers excellent hunting.

At PK Outfitters, we have secured the best hunting area within the provice – WMU 351. This area is approximately 160 miles northwest of Edmonton. WMU 351 is about 1700 square miles and is located in the highest hills east of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta. In these big rolling hills are numerous springs and natural mineral licks. These licks are a great asset for the growth of the antlers on the moose.

Our moose hunts are conducted from WMU 351 located in the Northern Boreal Forest of Alberta. The Boreal Forest region comprises of 48 percent of Alberta. The landscape of this region is covered with trees broken up by water in the form of muskeg, bogs, lakes and rivers.

Many of these wetlands are permanent and provide habitats for aquatic plants and animal species. The forest is home to a variety of plant and animal communities that live in different environmental conditions. It shelters more than 85 species of mammals including some of the largest and most majestic – wood bison, elk, moose, woodland caribou, grizzly bears, black bears and wolves.
